Devil’s Disguises

Unmasking lies. Restoring truth. Finding hope.

When the Shadows Fell

I never imagined my life would be marked by my father’s hidden choices. When his secret life came to light, the fallout was immediate and devastating. Overnight, I went from daughter of a politician to daughter of a serial thief. My name, my reputation, and my sense of belonging were shattered.

The enemy knew exactly where to strike.

He disguised lies as truth and left me questioning everything about who I was. “Will I ever like my life again? Will I ever like my name again? Will I ever feel part of community again?”

Living Invisible

The weight of public shaming is heavy. I tried to shrink back into the background, to stay invisible so I wouldn’t have to face the stares, the whispers, or the rejection. My life became a string of losses that felt like a row of dominoes falling one after another.

The devil’s disguises made it seem as though there was no end in sight. There was only shame, silence, and the slow fading of who I used to be.

The Lies I Believed

The disguises came in many forms:

+ You’ll never move past this.
+ Your reputation is ruined forever.
+ No one will ever understand.
+ God cannot use a story this broken.

Each lie felt true because of what I was living through. But slowly, God began peeling back the disguises and showing me the truth hidden underneath.

It was through studying True Crime Bible Stories that I discovered a counterexample to disprove the lie that "the apple does not fall far from the tree," which is a very popular, public opinion. This counterexample is found in a CK (Criminal's kid) named Jonathan, whose story is found in I Samuel 13-20, 23, 31 and II Samuel 1. God showed me three things in Jonathan's life: that a good CK can exist, that it is possible to recognize the fault found in the behavior of a criminal father, and that we are not defined by others' behavior.

What the enemy disguised as my destruction, God was using as the foundation of my testimony.

Out of my deepest pain, God birthed Garment of Praise Ministry.
We exist to help others recognize the devil’s disguises, reclaim their confidence in Christ, and find community with others who understand.

If you are carrying the weight of shame, betrayal, or loss, I want you to know: you are not alone. The devil may try to disguise your story as ruined, but God is already writing redemption.

He is the Restorer of Reputations.
He is the
Redeemer of Stories.
He is the
Rebuilder of Lives.

Your story isn’t finished. The disguises don’t get the final say.

God does.
